Listings For 2012

People in every culture celebrate holidays. Although the word "holiday" literally means "holy day," most American holidays are not religious, but commemorative in nature and origin. Because the nation is blessed with rich ethnic heritage it is possible to trace some of the American holidays to diverse cultural sources and traditions, but all holidays have taken on a distinctively American flavor. In the United States, the word "holiday" is synonymous with "celebration!"

In Mystickal Realms, we have people of various cultures and beliefs from all over the world. Many celebrate birthdays and religious holidays depending on their ethnic and religious backgrounds The list of Holidays and Observances on our calendar include those from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Netherlands.. If you hail from a Country not listed, please let me know and I will add it!!

For our Pagan Friends, we have also included a page dedicated to the Sabbats and Esbats. Observing the Sabbats and Esbats is the way of becoming Wiccan and honoring the God & Goddess. The Esbat or Lunar Festival is a celebration done thirteen times a year, primarily in honor of the Goddess and is celebrated during the Full Moon. This includes the three days before and the three days after. Most of the Sabbats occur in correspondence with the coming/leaving of seasons. Four of these "Days of Power" are determined by the Solstices and Equinoxes, the other four being a tradition based on old folk festivals. These celebrations remind us of the endless cycle that will continue long after we're gone and the ongoing Wheel of Life.
